biography

bilal seckin was born in batman. he completed his undergraduate studies in political science and public administration at kafkas university in kars and earned a fully funded master’s degree in human rights law from istanbul bilgi university. during and after his studies, he worked for evrensel newspaper, dicle news agency (diha), and mezopotamya agency. he has also worked as a freelance photojournalist for sipa press, sopa images, and middle east images.

for many years, seckin has collaborated with civil society organizations focusing on freedom of expression, law, confronting the past, memory work, and the right to mourning.

his reports and articles have been published in bvrensel newspaper, dicle news agency (diha), mezopotamya agency, dw turkish, journalists’ association of turkey, bianet, yeni yaşam newspaper, uğur mumcu investigative journalism foundation, and cumhuriyet.
